Position Overview:
Beam is looking for a highly motivated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professional with 8+ years of experience to join our growing team supporting our clinical manufacturing facility in RTP, NC. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a variety of EHS programs in a manufacturing facility, preferably in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. This position will report to the Sr. Director of EHS.
Candidate will work collaboratively with a wide range of departments supporting the site to advance EHS programs and mature the safety culture. Experience with supporting construction projects and/or physical safety programs in a manufacturing environment such as Working at Heights, Lockout/Tagout, Contractor Safety, etc. is preferred, however, this role offers candidates the opportunity to manage a wide variety of EHS programs. The ideal candidate will be customer service focused, open-minded, pragmatic, and responsive to ever-changing business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and foster a proactive safety culture.
- Own the development, implementation and management of safety programs for the site.
- Provide guidance and leadership in EHS compliance and safety practices.
- Create, refine, and deliver training in applicable EHS areas.
- Support site safety and culture committees.
- Perform regular area walkthroughs and inspections to verify compliance.
- Manage site risk assessment program.
- Ensure compliance and tracking of site environmental control and permitting programs.
- Ensure compliance with wastewater permit requirements.
- Conduct incident investigations to identify causal factors and corrective/preventative actions.
- Oversee site occupational health program, including medical screenings, vaccination recordkeeping, flu vaccine clinics, and pandemic response.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of EHS experience; Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical GMP environment experience preferred.
- Experienced in all EHS disciplines.
- Demonstrated application/interpretation of OSHA and EPA compliance regulations.
- Previous experience with managing physical safety programs (Working at Heights, Lockout/Tagout, Contractor Safety, Electrical Safety, etc.) preferred.
- Risk Assessment, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Hazard & Operability (HAZOP) procedures experience preferred.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal & presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Occupational Safety or similar, Master’s Preferred.
- CSP, CIH or interest in acquiring such certification.
- Incident Command, HAZWOPER, CPR, First Aid certifications/experience preferred.
- Membership in local, national or similar professional organizations preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as needed to support critical issues in a 24X7 environment.
- Ability to travel, if needed.
