Position Overview:
Ceribell is seeking a talented, results-driven Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our development team and contribute directly to our mission in the acute care medical device space. This role is ideal for an Engineer passionate about biomedical applications and possesses a strong background in full-stack SaaS development, with a specialized emphasis on back-end architecture, scalability, and secure, regulated cloud deployment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and refinement of our innovative EEG Portal—a first-of-its-kind platform that enables real-time, remote review of patient EEGs. This role requires technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to developing regulated, FedRAMP-compliant, high-availability software.
What you'll do:
- Back-End Architecture: Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of robust, scalable back-end services and APIs for the EEG Portal, ensuring high performance and data integrity.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all cloud deployment and application design adhere to FedRAMP High requirements, while supporting continuous monitoring (ConMon) activities through secure design and timely remediation of findings.
- Full-Cycle Development: Own the full software development lifecycle, from system design and coding to deployment and monitoring, adhering to best practices in a regulated medical environment.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Develop and deploy containerized web applications on cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), focusing on security, reliability, and automated deployment pipelines.
- Data Management: Design and implement efficient database schemas and queries (SQL) to manage sensitive, real-time EEG data.
- Front-End Collaboration: Collaborate with front-end developers to define contract APIs and contribute to the user interface implementation as needed.
- Problem Solving & Urgency: Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, quickly prioritize tasks, and proactively anticipate and resolve technical needs before they escalate.

What We're Looking For:
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent technical disciplines or 5+ years of professional experience in web application development, with a clear focus on back-end systems.
- Expert proficiency in modern back-end technologies including Node.js, Ruby on Rails, and SQL.
- Extensive hands-on experience developing and deploying scalable web applications using Docker/Kubernetes on major cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
- Demonstrated experience with FedRAMP requirements, controls, and implementation.
- Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript for both back-end and some front-end development is required.
- Strong analytical skills and detail-oriented work ethic required to meet the demands of developing software in the medical device or highly regulated industry.
- Exceptional technology skills, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to communicate confidently and tactfully across all levels of the organization.
Compensation:
- SF Bay Area/Greater LA Area/NY Metro: $173,000 - $190,000/yr
- National: $122,000 - $140,000
Hybrid/Remote:
- SF Bay Area: Hybrid (2 days in office)
- National: Remote
A candidate’s final salary offer will be based on their skills, education, work location and experience, and thus it may differ from the posted range. Compensation may also include bonuses consistent with Ceribell’s corporate compensation plan.
