OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth is currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented Scientist I/II to join our therapeutic genome editing team. The successful candidate will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues to design/develop, perform and execute translational research studies on mammalian cell lines and primary human cells and in mice to support the development of Cas nucleases for human therapeutics. The position requires adaptability, excellent technical and analytical skills, strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced team-oriented and dynamic environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execution of molecular biology, cloning, cell culture, genome editing, transfection, viral transduction and a broad range of functional assays
  • Design and execute experiments to develop, refine, and validate in vitro and in vivo CRISPR systems in muscle in vitro system and tissues
  • Apply advanced techniques in molecular biology, cellular biology, and biochemistry to demonstrate CRISPR efficacy and tolerability in muscle in vitro and in vivo systems
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including molecular biologists, bioinformaticians, and biologists to ensure the successful translation of research findings into actionable development strategies
  • Provide technical support for phenotyping and analytical characterization of cellular or animal models and genome editing outcomes
  • Accurately and timely record, document, analyze and communicate laboratory data to senior staff and team members
  • Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner, and adheres to site environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field and 5 years relevant industry experience or Masters degree and 3 years experience or PhD in molecular and cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field (Scientist I)
  • Bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field and 6 years relevant industry experience or Masters degree and 4 years experience or PhD and at least 1 year of industry experience (Scientist II)
  • Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, transfections, viral transductions, molecular cloning, PCR, genomic DNA and mRNA purification, cDNA library prep, qPCR, ddPCR, NGS library prep, ELISA, western blot

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years industry work experience
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working with AAV and/or LNP
  • Experience with NGS sample preparation
  • Experience with complex cell culture systems (cardiomyocytes, myoblasts, myotubes) or patient derived cells (iPSC, fibroblasts)
  • Experience developing human therapies using genome editing systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant data analysis software (Flowjo, GraphPad Prism, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated with ability to work efficiently and productively in a fast-paced highly collaborative team environment

Base Salary Range: $118,750 - $147,000
The listed base salary range is for Mammoth employees in the Bay Area. Actual base salary will be determined by geographic work location, relevant professional experience, applicable skills, and internal equity. The base salary range for those working remotely outside of the San Francisco Bay Area may differ and will be determined by industry market data for the role and specific region.
