OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth Biosciences has an opening for a Principal Project Manager I/II (PM) who will manage our growing CRISPR-based Therapeutics programs as we bring them from concept to market. The project manager will be responsible for planning, oversight, and management of projects in collaboration with the internal technical teams, external service providers and our partners, specifically, managing the development and implementation of new processes and procedures and oversight of processes to support compliance. This role will require process development experience to establish and launch compliance driven processes. This role will report into the Sr. Director of Project Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage matrixed teams through meeting management, development planning, timeline management, stakeholder management, risk/issue management, finance and resource management
- Collaborate with Technical Leaders and cross-functional team members in establishing development strategy
- Projects may be internal or part of alliance agreements with external research and development partner
- Work in partnership with Project Leader and other functionals to develop, gain approval, and execute on the project strategy across various phases of projects
- Develop and execute project plans by coordinating with operations across various functional areas
- Identify gaps in project plans that (potentially) impact project delivery and escalates appropriately to leadership
- Direct communication with appropriate stakeholders to ensure project team and leadership is fully informed and knowledgeable of project activities, current status and potential risks
- Provide updated project documents and information for regular program and budget updates
- Manage cross-functional teams and lead/contribute to establishing and improving processes
- Lead departmental initiatives on creation and maintenance of systems/databases for process improvements
- Establish innovative business and technical solutions to improve operational effectiveness
- Identify business process challenges by analyzing process data and metrics
- Facilitate teams to critically review current processes for effectiveness, quality and simplification
- Develop process workflow and design in compliance with regulatory requirements to improve operational efficiency
- Develop standard operating procedures and supporting documentation
- Provide training programs on new processes as needed
- Monitor and measure the benefits of post process implementation to ensure quality, efficiency, and improvement
- Maintain and update process related reports for reference purposes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, engineering, or relevant field with a minimum of 9+ years of project management experience in the life sciences industry or 10+ PM experience in pre-IND start up (Masters with 7+ years of experience)
- Certification or formal training in Project Management (PMP) and experience using project management and resource management tools
- Ability to work onsite 3 days per week
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leading the planning, execution, and delivery of a project with the product development process for a biotech company
- Six-sigma green belt certification with practical experience of implementation
- Biotechnology experience in a molecular biology or genetics testing organization, both preclinical and clinical settings a bonus
- Prior experience leading development efforts to meet regulated market standards (e.g., FDA or EMEA, etc.)
- Exceptionally organized and process driven
- Cross-functional leader to guide complex product development and organizational growth
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management tools e.g.MS Project, Smart Sheets, advanced Excel abilities
- Self-starter capable of formalizing organizational processes
- Influencer capable of balancing consensus perspectives and cohesive decisions
- Leverages a data-driven and structured approach to facilitate decision making
- Self-learner to navigate varying stakeholder needs along the development process

Base Salary Range: $194,750 - $231,000
The listed base salary range is for Mammoth employees in the Bay Area. Actual base salary will be determined by geographic work location, relevant professional experience, applicable skills, and internal equity. The base salary range for those working remotely outside of the San Francisco Bay Area may differ and will be determined by industry market data for the role and specific region.
