Position Summary
A position driving Instruments (incl. Simple Western, Single Cell Dispenser (Pala)), as well as Reagents and Consumables Sales for Workflows used in CGT, Pharma, Biotech, CDMO/CRO and Academia, starting in September 2025.
A field-based sales position located in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.
First part of the role: Focused on the instrument and consumables business including all Customer Groups (Pharma, Biotech, Academia, CDMO etc.) in the regions of Switzerland and Austria, developing the region by finding new Biotech clusters & Biotech Parks and maturing existing accounts.
In the second part: This role will be transitioned into an Account Manager position focused on a sales territory in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, with responsibility for the whole portfolio but particularly driving reagents sales.
The ideal candidate will have a strong life science background with a deep understanding in actual used technologies in pharma and biotechs, as well as the workflows and is preferably living in Switzerland. Initial experience with Bio-Techne instruments or equivalent technologies is a plus.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The position is responsible for sales of Bio-Techne Instruments and Consumables (Simple Western, Pala), consumables to all Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Academic and Government accounts in territory to familiarize with workflows in respective customer groups. In and after transition into the Account Manager role, the candidate will be responsible for the whole product portfolio, serving the workflow at designated customers in Switzerland. Day to day responsibilities will involve planning regular travel to customer accounts in territory, effective follow up of sales leads, efficient management of the sales pipeline and prompt closure of instrument system and consumable sales opportunities. Other duties will involve working closely with colleagues in other Bio-Techne sales teams to complete, reporting back on on-going market conditions and occasionally supporting marketing at key exhibitions and conferences.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
Ideally the candidate has first experience in consumables and instrument sales to designated customer groups.
Minimum of a Bachelor level degree in a relevant scientific discipline. A research background with higher degree (MSc or PhD) is an advantage.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
General business skills such as negotiation, strong organizational skills, problem solving and fact-based decision making.
Demonstrable experience in addressing the entire Life Science market (Academia and Industry) will be an advantage.
Previous work with one of our Simple Western systems or with other competing immunoassay platforms as well as the use of our consumables (ELISA, antibodies) or experience with FACS/Flow Cytometry would be beneficial
Highly motivated with demonstrative interpersonal, presentation & organizational skills. Energetic, enthusiastic, and hungry for success, and a hunter mentality
Able to work with a high degree of independence. A “self-starter.”
Proficient in German and English languages (written and spoken) with demonstrably excellent written and verbal communication skills. French would be a plus.
Strong interpersonal interaction skills and demonstrable ability to work collaboratively at all levels within the Bio-Techne organisation.
Strong customer relationship skills. Skilled in anticipating and resolving issues.
Excellent attention to detail, time management and process management
Strong interpersonal interaction skills and a collaborative approach to collaborating with colleagues.
Proficient in the use of computer applications and software. Familiarity with MS Office and SalesForce.com CRM system advantageous.
Able to perform a wide variety of tasks and multi-task efficiently plus excel in working in a challenging environment.
