We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative candidate for the role of Senior System Administrator. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, this individual will support various IT initiatives, projects and workflows pertaining to systems administration, networking, and cybersecurity. The individual will collaborate across the company as a business partner to ensure organizational needs are met in a timely manner.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Own the documentation for configuring applications and systems as well as anticipate future applications or systems updates, upgrades or feature changes.
- Troubleshoot any reported hardware problems.
- Install applications, systems and software for all end users of the organization.
- Educate and enforce end users on security guidelines, policies and best practices.
- Analyze system logs, identify potential issues with systems and provide suggestive solutions on how to alleviate and/or resolve problems under the direction of the Director of Information Technology.
- Perform backups as needed.
- Support additional IT day-to-day activities such as on/offboarding new hires, end user help desk needs, interacting with vendors for escalations and corporate projects etc. on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications:
- A.S. or advanced degree in Information Technology, Liberal Arts, Life Sciences, or similar field.
- 5+ years of hands-on systems administration experience required; Prior working experience in the life science industry highly preferred.
- Prior working experience with planning and implementing systems or integrating applications such as SSO, MFA etc.
- Experience navigating Microsoft cloud platform components including but not limited to Intune MDM, Microsoft Store, Entra, Compliance Center etc.
- Troubleshooting Microsoft cloud infrastructure experience required.
- Prior experience performing user training on SOPs, applications such as Proofpoint and equipment.
- Experience monitoring systems and applications for efficiency and errors.
- Prior responsibility with performing maintenance, installing updates and security patches.
- Driven mindset to effectively collaborate with other IT staff and IT vendors.
- Strategizing and testing experience pertaining to future applications, updates/upgrades, new lab equipment etc.
- Working knowledge and exposure to implementing security protocols as well as promoting secure practices in the workplace.
- Prior experience with monitoring wired and wireless network.
- Understanding of backup and recovery services/methodologies.
- Ability to work onsite 5-days a week at the Strand headquarters location in the Fenway district of Boston required.
- A strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Ability to quickly adapt to change and thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial early-stage environment.
